18th Week - Friday (090508) GW Update Part 3

290408 (Tuesday) - Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture
Decided to travel to Kobe which is also very near to Osaka. Boarded the JR and alighted at Sannomiya Eki (三ノ宮駅). Visited the kaikan first. It is called Hyogo Ikeda Cultural Kaikan. The Sokahan and lady-in-charge brought me around and showed me the exhibits of the 1995 Kobe earthquake. A lot of buildings in Kobe collapsed but the Kaikan was still standing still. It was then a relief centre for the homeless whose houses were destroyed and provided medical supplies and relief for everyone who needs it. Very touching...

After than I went to Kobe Chinatown. It is much smaller than Yokohama's but it was really packed with people waiting to try out the chinese food. But looking at the food, I feel it is more like Japanese than chinese food. Haha...

It was really crowded that day...

Hmm, the menu looks different from ours...

Chinese Food...

More chinese food - but a bit expensive though...

After Chinatown, I walked my way towards the port. Kobe is very famous for its port and I wanted to see the Kobe Tower as well. The scenery was a beauty and I just liked the Tower...

After the tower, I made my way towards the Kobe Earthquake memorial Park, which is just a 10 minutes walk from the tower.

A small preserved section of the earthquake devastated Kobe Port to remind everyone of the tragedy that happened 13 years ago...
