I reached Hiroshima Prefecture at 6am but the bus made several stops at different stations along the way before reaching Hiroshima Bus Centre at 7.38am. Then I walked briskly back home because my work starts at 9am. The feeling is now very different from Tokyo. It is a lot more laid back and slow paced than Tokyo and I have to re-adjust again. Haha...
I reached my apartment at 7.53am, put my bag down, took out the important stuff and took a quick shower. I left my apartment at 8.20am and cycled straight to work.
And within 5 mintues, something happened. I was cycling down a slope opposite the Genbaku-Dome and 'bang!' I knocked onto a pederstrain. I fell off my bicycle and slided a few metres off the ground. I quickly got up with my bicycle and luckily the person was standing. After a while, he kneeled down, holding his right leg in agony. I quickly shifted my bicycle to the side and he sat at the sideways. The police came at 8.30am and they took our statements. The investigation was over at 10am and this time, I cycled slowly to office with a lot of caution.
I reported to my sup the reason for being late and I thought I would get a scolding. Instead, he asked whether my injury was serious and went to take the medical kit for me. I suffered only surface scratches to my leg, hand and right cheek and nothing serious. And then a few more colleagues came and checked to see if I am fine. My boss even called me from his office at another location to support me. I was really touched by their kind understanding and caring thoughts but as I created this accident, I will bear the consequences, no excuses...
I will visit the 'victim' a few days later to officially apologize to him...
And for the remainer of the day, I did not do much and my supervisor told me to go back home early to rest as he guessed I did not rest enough on the overnight bus from Tokyo.
