6th Week - Monday (110208) Visit to ASA Zoo (安佐動物園)

Claire and I visited the zoo today. We left our apartment at 9.30am and walked to the bus stop opposite Sogo to take the bus to Asa Zoo. It was a 50 minutes ride and the fare was 440 yen! The unique thing about the bus is you board at the back door and alight at the front door. When you board, you have to look at the electronic board at the front of the bus which shows a lot of stages and you note which stage you board it. The fare will keep increasing as the distance goes longer and you pay according to that stage's fare.

We reached the zoo at around 11.30am and Claire noticed something on the entrance notice board. It states that students under 18 yrs old and foreign students with their ID pass get to enter for free! Yeah!!! We presented our IDs and got a free entry. This helped us save up 500 yen! =)

At the entrance of Asa Zoo...

This zoo is pretty small compared to Singapore's standards and we really take our time to finish walking the whole compound. The animals are also pretty much the same as in Singapore zoo, the only difference being there's red panda and the moose. There's a children world here and we queued up with the little children to get to play with the guinea pigs. Haha!!! Overall, I feel that this zoo is more oriented towards children and not like Singapore's, who targets foreign visitors (think we're the only foreigners there that day... Hehe...)

Cat and Dog Skeleton...

Our picnic lunch for today!!!

What a big wool ball!!!

This sheep is soooo cute!

Posing with the innocent-looking guinea pigs...

Then at 4.45pm, we left the zoo and took the 45 minutes bus home...
